Up for review are 420jars available from the folks at 420science. The first thing I noticed when I got my 420jar was the thickness of the glass. These jars are heavy. The next thing I noticed is the logo. The logo is affixed to the jar quite well unlike some other “stash jars” that the logo will scratch or rub off just from handling it,the logo on these puppies is solid. Now upon opening the jar quite a satisfying POP eminated from the jar,always a good sign. But how does it perform? Well I tested this jar for several weeks to make sure it would stay durable. I can honestly say from opening the jar every day and putting intentional stress tests on it like opening and closing it over and over again I noticed no detrimental quality loss from the seal. A lot of cheaper jars the seals will either disintegrate or not fit as well. But the more important question is… how well did it keep my bomb Chron fresh?

The answer is a definitive yes. I usually go through  an eighth or a bit more a week. When the cannabis stays in the jar for that long it continues the curing process and makes the weed stronger and taste better every day. Keeping it perfectly moist yet not too dry. I would however advise opening the top for about 15 minutes daily to promote fresh air exchange to keep the cannabis cured properly and keep it tasting fresh.

420 jars work well and come in a variety of sizes and shapes and you can choose quite a few different designs,the write on and erase jar is quite cool as well. However I do have a small gripe. 420jars have been the same since they first came out in about 2004 the basic premise has been the same clear jars with a cool logo. I want to see something different, I want to see some frosted jars,I want to see some opaque jars or perhaps painted swirl jars.Hell maybe even a glow in the dark jar. The reason? Well I am part of a school of thought that believes Cannabis cures better in a dark environment.

So if I have my Cannabis in a jar for a week before it’s gone, I like for it to cure as optimally as possible before my next eighth. Getting better every day I smoke it. Now you can keep your 420 jar in a dark cabinet or a bag but I would like to be able to leave my 420 jar anywhere anytime and know that no light is hindering my curing process. Showing off my sick jar without fear of the evil light. But i’m sure the dudes at 420jars are way ahead of me With that being said these jars are great to keep your cannabis fresh,just make sure you keep them in a dark place to take full advantage of the curing process. Today we are doing a review of the vaporgenie portable vaporizer pipe. You can get the vaporgenie in several different woods and finishes and direct from the vaporgenie website will set you back about $55.00us

The vaporgenie works by unscrewing the top of the vaporgenie and adding ganja to the bottom mouthpiece. You then screw the top back on and apply flame and mixed with fresh air while inhaling to warm the ceramic filter that sits in the top piece. Said ceramic filter will warm to a temperature that will warm your cannabis until vapor starts to trickle into the pipe. As illustrated by the diagram below:

Is it worth it? Trying the vaporgenie for the first time proved daunting. It is extremely hard to get the ceramic piece to heat up adequately. Finally when I do get it going I don’t get very much. I tried a few different methods of playing with the flame and was able to get a solid hit. The hit I took  burned with searing hot razors that were cutting down my throat. Upon exhalation all I tasted was burned popcorn. I tried several other times each time following the directions very carefully with no difference with how the unit performed. I had a handful of friends test this unit following the directions to the letter and we all fared the same results. The vapor is not pleasent and although may be healthier than smoke surely does not feel like it.  The taste and consistency of the vapor left me scrambling to find a pipe or my RooR just so I could get the unpleasentness of the vaporgenie out of my mouth.

Conclusion: This pipe is only good if you like running out of breath, by the time you get the vaporgenie warm enough for vapor to come out you’ll feel like you want to collapse from all the hard breathing you have been doing getting the damn thing warmed up.Just when you thought that torture wasn’t enough then comes the vapor out of the pipe and feels like molten lava from the third level of hell enter your lungs. This pipe should be given as a gift to your worst enemy or administered as torture to your kidnap victims on a daily basis. Final thought: The vaporgenie sucks really big crap popsicles, keep away at all costs.  $55 dollars would be better  spent on an 8th of some sticky and throw it in a RooR bong or a real vaporizer.  The vapor genie gets 1/5 noses up.

Or how about if you are going to purchase some weed from a dispensary or anywhere else how do you know it’s good? If you are a grower you need to know the optimal time to harvest, the 420scope can help you determine the optimal time to pluck your crop by being able to see when the trichromes have reached their peak,in this sort of situation a magnifying glass can only let you see so much. For our snobs in the U.K. this device could potentially save your life. In the U.K. there have been quite a few news reports of people getting contaminated buds. Contaminated with tiny glass beads to make the cannabis appear to have more trichromes as well as to add to the weight. Check out a post from Ukcia.org of people talking about it. That shit is scary! In this kind of situation this 420scope could potentially save your life.

The 420scope is easy to use. Remove from box,turn on  the LED light and play with the focus adjustment. This can be the trickiest part so work the dial slow until you get something starting to come into focus. You will be blown away with what you see. The trichromes magnified 100X looks amazing. You are actually able to see the stalk and cap of each trichrome telling you if the cannabis you have was harvested at the optimal time,how many trichromes and their condition all right there in front of you.

If you have several different strains in front of you this tool can make it very easy to tell who’s bluffing and who is the real deal. As a real life example I took this tool to the Doesha Cup in L.A. last week to see how useful it would be in helping me determine what strains to purchase to take home while I enjoyed the cups festivities. Several people at the cup were selling O.G. Kush at $10 a gram,myself being a snob and a person who can’t pass up a great deal I figure I would put the 420scope through it’s paces. I checked out three different vendors who were selling the O.G. two were selling it for Ten dollars and one for fifteen dollars. I went from booth to booth asking each vendor to show me a nugget or two that I could put under the scope. The fifteen dollar O.G. under the microscope looked decent enough but the trichromes were clear and not milky as they should be. We moved on to the other two ten dollar OG nuggets one vendor had amber nuggets, a little too amber meaning that particular plant was harvested too late. The last vendor was just right nice trichromes milky white with a very slight amber hint to them. Without even smoking any of the previous strains I could already tell that this was the optimal nugget and I saved five bucks. The uses do not stop at cannabis, hash can be viewed under the 420scope as well as just about anything you can think of.

Conclusion: The 420scope is a compact easy to use magnification tool that can end up saving you cash at the same time ensuring that you get the best smoke for your buck. My one tiny gripe with the 420scope is that I feel it should have come with some sort of pouch or protective casing to keep debris getting over the lense or eyepiece. But that is a tiny complaint and is easily resolved by going to your local dollar store and picking something up. All in all this device is very handy for any snob that truely cares about what they are smoking. The 420scope recieves a rating of 5 noses up out of 5. 5/5

Today we are reviewing the Rokit V5 smoking device. This bong is truly unique and I have never seen another design like it. This piece is smokable art. Your probably wondering how the hell you smoke this thing the picture below should explain more:

The mouth piece resting on the holder gets inserted into the nose cone, the top nose cone comes off and the black part directly under it is filled with cannabis. Inside the glass lies a metal ‘rose’ That rose sends the smoke through a 14 port dual chamber. In the glass cylinder there should be water coming up to where the stem of the rose meets the end of the rose(bulb). On the other end is a carb, light the nose cone work the carb and inhale.

The rokit comes in several different colors and you can purchase one for about $145 U.S.

Is it worth the money? Well let’s get down to business. The Rokit comes in a small heavy box, opening it I was a bit disappointed with the size the pictures as always made me think it would be a tad bit bigger than what I received.  No matter, the parts were all quality heavy cnc machined metal and nice gaskets  the chamber that holds the water however was a problem. It arrived cracked! I was pissed but the rokit worked regardless, the crack was hairline but still unacceptable. I emailed the guys at RedEye and got an email back in about 5 minutes telling me that my replacement glass was being sent out the next day! I was impressed and it came about 3 days later. Packaged really well this time.The Rokit came with instructions,screens and some cleaner. Using the instructions the Rokit was put together with less than 5 minutes work.

Some water in the chamber and fresh ganj in the nosecone is all this baby needed to launch my ass into outerspace…or so I hoped. I hit the rokit and experienced a massive apollo13 blast of weed into my lungs, 30 seconds later… I was HIGH!  But I was coughing my ass off, other people in the room also experience the same satanic lava flow shoot into to their lungs as well.The Rokit packs a hell of a whallup I have seen the biggest pro weed smokers tear up and almost vomit from the Rokit. Some have referred to this device as the noisy cricket due to it’s size and powerful weed blast.

So is it worth it? Well,The Rokit is a unique looking and very powerful device. When you look at the core of the matter however it’s nothing more than a very fancy percolated bong. It’s not the smoothest nor kindest to your lungs the Rokit relies on brute strength to get you high. It is definitely a conversation piece. I would say this is a great piece if your looking to add something unique that’ll kick your ass to your collection. In terms of it being a good bong, it’s not the greatest but gets the job done. My Chief complaints with the Rokit would be 1) The water smells really nasty when cleaning due to the size and sheer amount of smoke passing through the device. 2) The top is hard to get off sometimes getting stuck, making said nasty water splash all over the place. 3) Cost, the Rokit costs just a bit too much for the average person to warrant spending this kind of cash on anything less than a really clean hitting bong.

Conclusion: The Rokit is a very unique piece and if you have the money and have nothing better to spend it on then go for it, don’t expect any thrills from your hits but you will get super high and cough your ass off like you own a house amongst a California wildfire.  With all that being said the Rokit gets a 3 noses up out of 5.    FINAL:3/5

With that being said let’s look at some of the more popular options you have to add on to your roor.

First we have the ice notches,these will hold ice in place in the shaft of the bong cooling the smoke when it hits the ice as well as dripping cool refreshing water into the basin cooling the initial smoke intake. These pretty much come standard with quite a few  RooR’s. If you are looking to purchase a RooR do not buy one without the ice notches! It really is worth it.

RooR Diffuser

The diffuser as you can see is a stem with tiny perforated bubbles at the bottom. What this allows the smoke to do is to spread through a wider area of water in the basin,compared to a regular stem that creates a big single bubble vortex in the middle of the basin as you rip it these tiny holes send smoke shooting out of them into the water spreading it throughout the bottom most portion of water vertically. This makes the bong easier to rip,filters the smoke better and makes everything much cleaner to inhale. Highly recommended.

Ashcatcher

I know what your thinking,what the fuck does pokemon have to do with weed? Nothing you read it wrong your stoned. The ash catcher is not a new concept by any means,but it is a great one. Just remove the bowl piece from your stem and stick in the ash catcher, fill with water. So what’s it do?

Basically the ash catcher does for one exactly what it sounds like it does. It catches all the ash and weed remains in it instead of going into your RooR smelling it up and making it harder to clean.  The better part for snobs of course is the fact that this amount of water also ‘pre-filters’ the smoke before it ever hits the second stage of the bong almost like an extra water filter for your sink. This add on in my opinion may not be necessary to enjoy the RooR because it is a great bong in itself however I strongly reccomend it, it will take the taste and purity of the smoke to a whole level. It totally changes the characteristics of the RooR and really brings out what these things can do.

Carbon Filter Adapter

This one,it’s hard to find. The RooR carbon filter adapter is a bit different,it is quite the treat. This little adapter allows you to fill it with activated charcoal that you can buy at any fish store for about $5. What does it do? Filling up the adapter with charcoal pellets allows the smoke to filter through it  before it hits the main basin as well. Activated charcoal traps a good amount of tar and chunks in it as well. After a few times of use there is tons of tar trapped on the bottom of the adapter. I love mine. A true snob addon.

There are quite a few more add ons such as a spliff adapter so you can smoke your joint through the RooR(weird),reducing adapter to use a 18.8 bowl with a 14.5,all kinds of different options bowls and the list goes on. They also make some tiny glass beads you can put into the actual bong to act as an extra diffuser.But man,managing 50 tiny glass beads as I try to clean my RooR sounds like a huge pain in the ass.

RooR also sells a RooR cleaning agent and anti calcium buildup agent that works amazing! Better than any other cleaner I have ever used.

On top of the bong the addons are not cheap. Is it worth it? Hell yes! The bong may look like a complicated Frankenstein piece if you choose to add on all the popular addons I mentioned but the quality of smoke is amazing.

Ok moving away from the addons. How does the RooR perform by itself barren? Amazing! Good weed is a one hit quit scenario with this thing every time. It even turns not so good weed into a sledgehammer, the RooR never dissapoints and you can always trust it to get the job done, I have tons of bongs but the RooR is the only one I use consistently.

This piece is built with quality in mind and it definitely meets my quality standards,but the powerful,cool,tasty,smooth smoke is what makes this a true champion of bongs. Bubbling the RooR is like watching that movie The Mist appear within it,the high is so catastrophic but only if you want it to be. I cannot say enough about this bong. The only thing that might be in the same league of this bad boy is the Hurricane series of bongs,which I still have yet to purchase or review.(*hint hint hurricane) If you are a medical cannabis patient and looking for something easy on the lungs this is it(I would recommend the addons though)It requires very little cannabis to make a huge cloud of smoke and smokes very clean.

This Bong Deserves a 6 out of 5 but since we are at a 5 star system it gets the max 5/5 noses up.

THE VOLCANO

COST: Classic: $420-$550  Digital:$550-$670

Differences between Classic and Digital:

Well the main visual difference is obviously the digital led display versus the old knob design on the classic.

The main difference between the two is that the digital volcano is more accurate. The classic will get within 9 degrees accuracy of the desired temperature where as the digital will get within about 3 degrees.

The other main difference between the two is the temperature ranges. The classic ranges from about 226-446degrees F whereas the digital can go as low as 104-446 degrees F Significantly lower however that lower temperature range would be pretty useless for vaporizing cannabis.

Otherwise both devices are identical in just about every other way.

Difference between solid and easy valve sets.

The difference is basically the solid valve you can operate one bag at a time and pass it around etc. The Easy valve is the same concept except that it comes with the mouth piece pre attached to the balloon so when the balloon gets nasty you will have to throw it away and buy another easy valve set. Where as the solid valve you can replace just the bag. The Easy valve also comes with 5 bags so everyone can have their own bag. Much more hygienic and also convenient if you have large groups of people over or in your household.

Both sets cost about $120 direct from manufacturer so it’s all just personal preference. Of course one or the other will come with your volcano upon purchase.

Construction: Both devices have a very solid construction made from stainless steel. Easy to clean and maintenance/hassle free. The valve sets that come with the vaporizers are also very beefy made from stainless components as well. The volcano is made with surgical tool precision. This Vaporizer is truly medical grade.

Setup/Operation: The volcano comes in a nice box with solid packaging to make you feel assured that nothing has happened to your investment during shipping. Upon opening the vape comes with instructions,a set of bags, an extra air filter,The solid or classic valve set depending upon your choosing,instructions and the vaporizer grinder.( A must have for the vape)

Following the directions if your using the solid valve you basically cut the bag  to the desired size,put on solid valve and clamp it down. Next plug in and turn on. You will see the ‘control’ light if you are using the classic like I am come on. At this point it would be a good time to grind up your cannabis. Now how much is too much and how much is not enough? Well here’s how I do it. Grind up a little bit,insert into the volcano filling chamber and hold it up to the light if you can still see light through the cannabis keep filling until you can see little to no light penetrate. Too much cannabis is not advised as it will not promote good air flow through the chamber so the right level is crucial for a clean invigorating smoke. This technique will yield you 4-6 bags of vapor depening on your cannabis and heat settings. Settings for cannabis should range from 5-7 on the classic model. With 5 you will need to smoke multiple bags to truly feel the effects. Personally I like to keep mine set to 7 it is a bit heavier of a vapor but one bag is usually all you will need to feel the full medical effects. Try out different settings to see which works best for you!

Next,wait for the control light to turn off,place filling chamber on volcano,turn on the ‘air’ button preheat cannabis for roughly 3 seconds then clip the bag on to the top of filling chamber. You will see the bag now beginning to fill up with vapor. Wait for the bag to get full but do not over fill as you may burst the bag or seal on the bag. It is easy to tell if you are over filling it you will hear the bag stretching in agony, this is a good time to pull of the valve and unclip  the chamber now clip on the mouth piece and try it out!!

Impressions: Trying this for the first time if your a long time cannabis smoker is going to be weird for you, it’s definitely not the same. But you will taste the true cannabis instead of the additional smoke and carcinogens. Tha vapor is light and a true pleasure to inhale.  Minimal to no coughing should occur when you use this device it is so smooth. The main attraction of this device is efficiency the volcano will vaporize and give you 80-90% THC where as smoking depending on how you are doing it at most will yield you 30-50% THC. Check out the Cannabis in the filling chamber after you have exhausted all the smoke that can come out of it it is brown but not burned,now imagine the difference to your lungs!

The vaporizer saves you money and your lungs by giving you a better high and using less weed.  The high from the volcano is incredible!! It does take a little longer to hit you by 1-2 minutes than the almost instant high you get from a bong but at the same time that smoke from the bong is also making you dizzy and perhaps why you feel high faster.This device is hands down the best smoking device I have ever tried, I have used multiple vaporizers,bongs, and various other devices and all pale in comparison to the mighty volcano. I will use this device 9/10 times now once in a while switching over to my ROOR bong. It is definitely the best smoking device for any medical patient or person that is apprehensive about smoking. This device is so easy on your lungs and makes cannabis taste and smell so good. yes it costs alot but you can’t put a price on health. This is an investment! Long story short If you are a medical patient,snob,cannabis lover you need this it will change your world. Truly a device for all weedsnobs. 5 Noses up out of 5 *****
